SOAC: Track and Field
On Saturday I was able to volunteer at the Special Olympics of Allegheny County Track and Field events held at Baldwin High School. I have volunteered with the basketball and swimming events earlier this year as a first responder in case the athletes get hurt. I had a great time on Saturday playing soccer with the kids in between events and talking to them about all the medals they won. I encourage anyone who has the opportunity to help out with the Special Olympics to do it because it’s a lot of fun and the athletes are always very grateful!
One of the athletes named Mike won three gold medals that day and he would not answer to Mike from that point forward… if you wanted to talk to him, he only answered to “Mr. Triple Crown Winner.” Needless to say, he was hilarious!
