Adam and I were lucky enough to help those who do not have a voice on Wednesday.  Often times, we forget how important it is to take care of the animals that bring so many people joy and companionship in their lives.  We learned from Benay, the only caretaker these kittens have, that many of the kittens are left behind, malnourished, or abused.  Benay acts as one of the only caretakers to 30 kittens.  She does more for these kittens than some people do for themselves; she is responsible for feeding them, cleaning their cages, providing medication to the sick ones, and most importantly loving each one equally.  Benay talked to us about how there is always a need for volunteers at the Long Island Humane Society and other Humane Societies all over.  At the end of our time volunteering at the “Kitty Cove,” Benay commented on how impressed she was that two young men would give their time and energy to help.  So go ahead, get out there, volunteer and impress someone today.
